Lone Star Santas Convoy of Toys
-
On May 25, 2011, a tornado hits Joplin, MO. Lone Star Santas, which had been enjoyed being a fraternal a group until then, sprang into action contacting local churches, neighborhoods, friends and businesses to collect new toys. Twelve Santas, three Mrs. Clauses, and several elves then headed to Joplin in a convoy of cars, trucks, trailers, and RVs. An estimated 3,500 toys were during that first Convoy.
-
Because of this first "Convoy of Toys", the mission of Lone Star Santas was developed to provide Love, Hope, Joy ... TOYS, all wrapped in a big Santa hug directly to those impacted by natural disasters.
-
Doug and Pam Thomas are members of Lone Star Santas and have placed a big white box in Brown Hall to collect toys for Convoy of Toys. These toys are re-distributed throughout the year to those in need and not just in December. Please help us provide toys to kids who have experienced some kind of tragedy in their lives.
Little Free Pantry
-
You can become a Pantry Partner each Sunday! Pantry Partners are Reconcilers who fill the Pantry (located in the front parking lot -near the library) one day each month to help those living with food insecurity. We have purposely left each Sunday open, so Reconcilers who are not on the monthly schedule, but wish to bring food to support this ministry can do so each Sunday (or any other day). Bring your food item to church and place it in the pantry or the blue basket in Brown Hall.
Interfaith Welcome Coalition Backpacks
- The group is led by Ron and Betty Graham and meets the FIRST SUNDAY of every month in Brown Hall, after the 10:30 service.
- Even if you are not able to join us, both teams can always use donations of:
-
Stuffed animals (from the Dollar Tree)
-
Individual packages of peanut butter crackers
-
Individual packages of gummies
-
Granola Bars
-
-
Once backpacks are packed, they are then taken to the San Antonio Airport, where they will be handed out to families being released from detention centers.
Sleeping Mats for the Unhoused
- Learn to make chains of plastic bags (You can multitask as you watch TV) or drop off your bags in the box in Brown Hall. These chains are then made into sleeping mats for the unhoused -- we can even teach YOU how to make the mats! Youth can even collect community service hours by making chains. Thank you for your participation in this ministry.
