Description

If you have served or you are actively serving our military community we want you to know you are welcome and honored here at Reconciliation!  Recently the Diocese of West Texas started exploring opportunities for a firm establishment and growth of a Veteran’s ministry.  Here at Reconciliation we are also in the beginning stages of this Military Matters Ministry.   About 25% of our Reconciliation family comprise either active duty, veterans, DOD/GS employees, and their families.

Upcoming Events and Activities

Veterans' Day

Are you Active Duty Military or a Veteran?  Please email a picture of yourself or loved one to Joanne Murphy at  to add to our Veterans Day slideshow.  We will celebrate Veteran's Day at Rec on Sunday, Nov 10th.  Terry Arata-Maiers will be representing us and giving the sermon!   If you are interested in assisting with the service by ushering,  serving communion, or reading the prayers of the people/readings let Joanne Murphy or Martha Hughes know.

GI Forum Gift Bags

Military Matters will be donating gift bags to Veterans living at San Antonio's GI Forum.   During the month of October, there will be a container in Brown Hall where you can drop off much needed supplies for a Veteran living in this transitional housing in San Antonio.  Supplies needed:  both male and female:  Sheets, Towels, Socks, Slippers, Blankets, underwear, pillows, soaps, toiletries, hair brushes, etc.   Their website and information on the housing at GI Forum can be found at the following link:  http://www.agif-nvop.org/Services.aspx   The gift bags will be delivered to the GI Forum in November.

Wreaths Across America

Donations will be collected during November in Brown Hall after services for Wreaths Across America, an organization placing wreaths at military cemeteries around the country.  Our goal is to collect enough to sponsor at least 5 wreaths at our local San Antonio military cemetery.  Link to this organizations web site is:  https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/

Please visit the Diocese of West Texas website at:  http://www.dwtx.org/departments/military-ministry/  for more helpful information and a very informative Military Ministry toolkit.
